How to Play Survey Showdown

The survey guessing team game · in Party Feud

Brand new to it? Here's exactly how a round plays out, start to finish. (Looking to get it running on your TV first? See the setup guide.)

The whole game is built on one idea: we asked a crowd of people a question — like “Name something you'd do in front of a mirror” — and tallied their answers. The most popular answers are worth the most points. Two teams compete to guess those answers, and the team with the most points at the end wins. Here's how a single round works.

A round, step by step

STEP 1 · THE FACE-OFF

First Guess — win control of the round

Every round opens with the First Guess. The question appears and both teams race to call out an answer — first one to buzz in goes first.

Whoever names the higher-ranked answer (the one more people said) wins control of the round for their team. If the first team's guess is low or wrong, the other team gets a shot to steal control.

💡 During the First Guess, a wrong answer is just a “miss” — it doesn't cost you anything. Strikes only start once a team has control.

STEP 2 · PLAY THE BOARD

Name answers, build the round pot

The team in control keeps guessing. Each correct answer flips up with its points, and those points pile into the Round Pot (you'll see it climb, e.g. “92 / 100 PTS”).

Your goal: clear the board — find all the hidden answers — to claim the whole pot. Work together; the obvious answers are usually worth the most.

STEP 3 · STRIKES & THE STEAL

Three strikes, then the other team can steal

Now that you're playing for points, a wrong answer (or one that isn't on the board) is a strike — a big red X. Three strikes and your turn is over.

That triggers STEAL TIME: the other team huddles and gets one single guess. Name any remaining answer and they steal the entire round pot. Miss it, and the team that was in control keeps the points.

STEP 4 · BANK & WIN

Bank the points and play on

The winning team banks the round pot onto their score, the full board reveals so everyone sees the answers they missed, and a fresh question begins.

Play as many rounds as you like. When you call it, the team with the highest total score wins. Bragging rights, dishes duty — that part's up to you.

The whole game in 6 lines

  • The point: guess the most popular survey answers — more people said it, more points it's worth.
  • First Guess: both teams go for the top answer; the higher guess wins control of the round (misses here are free).
  • In control: keep naming answers to build the round pot.
  • Strikes: a wrong guess is a strike (X). Three strikes ends your turn.
  • The steal: the other team gets one guess to take the whole pot.
  • Winning: banked points add up across rounds — highest total wins.
